Although it’s more recently become popular with leisure tourists, Maputo has long been the most prominent city in Mozambique for business travelers. The city is in the midst of an economic boom, and there are scores of new hotels going up every year, and major renovations happening at established ones. If you’re in the city for business and want to stay in comfort and style, try one of these top business hotels in Maputo.
Polana Serena Hotel
Starting off our list is probably the best and most famous hotel in the city. And although people come to stay in luxury here and enjoy the almost century old architecture, it’s also popular with business travelers. Over the last decade, the hotel has been restored to its former opulence and is a fantastic place to take out clients at the bar for cocktails. There are several conference facilities onsite, along with a fully-equipped gym and a hairdresser for looking snappy before a business meeting. The on-site restaurants are also excellent and includes a Saturday night seafood buffet, along with a sushi bar and French fine dining. The location on the city’s seafront is also nothing short of fantastic, with incredible views overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Hotel Avenida
Located right in the middle of Avenida Julius Nyerere, the Hotel Avenida is a fantastic location for business travelers looking to get the most out of the city while there. The rooms at the hotel are clean, modern and have all the things you’d expect like Wi-Fi, a flatscreen television and soundproofing so you won’t be bothered while hunched over your laptop working. There are eight rooms to hold meetings, along with an adequate business center with computers available for use. The onsite restaurant is quite nice, and is open throughout the day, serving up Mozambican fare along with typical cuisine like pasta and burgers. If you need to get in and out of the city quick, there’s also an airport shuttle service.
Southern Sun Maputo
Although its one of the most beautiful places to stay in Maputo, the hotel is still mostly geared towards business travelers. But even the most practical travelers will appreciate the stylish 158 rooms, including several recently renovated suites. The hotel is located right on the Indian Ocean by white sandy beaches and is only 7km from the airport, making it great for getting in and out of town. There’s a fully equipped business center on-site, along with three large conference centers for hosting events. The Bayside Restaurant is also excellent and is one of the best places to eat in the city with excellent lunch and dinner.
Hotel Tivoli
Located in a busy commercial area of Maputo, the Hotel Tivoli is convenient to most offices in the city and easy to get to from the airport. Rooms are spacious and have all of the amenities you would expect in a hotel of its business-meets-luxury stature. Desks in the rooms are large and comfortable with plenty of room to spread out and get work done on the speedy WiFi. There are four large conference rooms at the hotel along with plenty of hardware available upon request like laptops and video projectors. The Acacia restaurant is great for entertaining clients and the onsite bar is a perfect way to relax after a long day.
Radisson Blu Hotel
Like most Radisson hotels around the globe, this location is aimed squarely at business travelers and has all the perks you would expect. There is a business center, a conference room, meeting rooms, fast WiFi, along with services like express check out that are meant to save you time. It’s also extremely convenient to consulates, embassies and offices in the area. The hotel has a nice selection of places to eat, along with swanky bars like the Oceano Bar and Palmeira Lounge for entertaining clients. The 155 rooms are fantastic, clean, and functional, with great views looking out to the sea and beaches.
Afrin Prestige
Located in the lower city of Maputo near many of the city’s offices, this hotel features 99 rooms with dramatic views of the Maputo Bay. The rooms are just about what you’d expect from a business hotel and feature clean and modern decor throughout. For business travelers, there is a conference center on site that can hold up to 300 people. There’s also a fitness center and a spa, should you need to relax after a busy day. And if you want to work in the lobby, there is plenty of space to set up where you can sit and admire the artwork while getting work done on the zippy WiFi.
