Trattoria Ristorante is a family owned Italian restaurant that has been in operation since 1931. It’s prime location within the city centre provides the perfect escape for lunch, dinner or just a drink with friends.

Management has tried to ensure that the atmosphere is homely and cozy. The restaurant has plenty of room to accommodate quite a number, whether on the patio which also allows for smoking diners or inside the restaurant both the main sitting area or the upstairs section which also has a terrace overlooking the city streets.

They have a wide menu selection with numerous pasta dishes, meats, vegetarian dishes and of course seafood. They also serve classic Italian desserts like tiramisu and homemade gelato.

I had high expectations before dining here, however my excitement waned pretty fast after I tasted the fettuccine trattoria. The waiter had recommended the dish, as I had requested something that was authentically Italian. But the dish was not enjoyable, and the only notable flavour was the chilli, as it was spicy. However, it did have two things going for it: the fettuccine in the dish was homemade, and the portion was generous.

I eventually told my waiter about my dislike of the food, and he was kind enough to switch the meal at no extra cost. I decided on another Italian classic, spaghetti carbonara, which turned out to be a much better option. Again the portion size was very generous.

For dessert I had the tiramisu, which was the highlight of my dining experience. The sponge cake was perfectly moist with a generous filling of the mascarpone and the coffee-soaked finger biscuits.

I am not too sure if I would visit the restaurant again, however I’d be willing to give their pizzas a try. Plus the staff is friendly and the service is efficient.
