Based in Lekki Phase 1 it’s easy to find, drive form Vic Island towards the new toll bridge that connects Lekki and Ikoyi, ‘the ice cream factory’ is the first building on the left (here is also a branch on Vic Island at 1613b Omega Bank Avenue, off Adeola Hopewell Street). The building contains the cafe itself and a Chinese restaurant called Ying Yang whist in the neighbouring building there is a further cafe, a pharmacy, clothes and shoe shop, hairdressers, a pleasant bar and outside terrace. As the name suggests Ice cream features heavily on the menu with flavours like caramel cookie crunch, Madagascan vanilla and cappuccino chip. It’s a step about the standard ready frozen scoops found elsewhere. Ice cream can be served in cones, sundaes or alongside Belgian waffles (N1500). There is also an in-house bakery serving muffins, pastries and an excellent cake selection; Strawberry, white chocolate truffle or red velvet cheesecake for example (all at N1500). Alongside all this there is a selection of hot food such as Panini’s and fries (N2000). Decor is dark brown hardwood furniture whilst thick tinted windows ensure the cafe remains cool throughout the day. Outside there is a small terrace for cooler evenings with seating for around 20 under sunshades (though Admiralty Way is a busy street for traffic). It’s a good spot for a light breakfast, or an afternoon meet with friends, alternatively free Wi-Fi makes it a comfortable spot to while away an hour or two browsing the net and drinking freshly ground coffee.
