An American themed diner with branches all over the world. It boasts branches as far afield as Texas to Islamabad. The Lagos branch has only recently opened and it does a decent job of recreating the 50’s diner theme. Staff are dressed in crisp white uniforms 50’s, Pepsi advertisements line the walls and chrome and leather booths allow diners to pick tunes from their tables. The jukebox belts out Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis and the staff seem to visibly enjoy working here. It has proved popular with ex-pats, especially those with young families, perhaps as it’s one of the few places whom actively cater for families with a devoted kids menu. Burgers are flame grilled and tasty and there are a range of chili fries, chicken wings and malted shakes. The diner could really have been moved directly from the streets of L.A. It is a slightly incongruous experience to sit in a booth listening to 50’s rock and roll whilst brightly dressed Lagosians shout and vie for position on their KK’s (three wheeled motorcycle taxi’s) outside. It’s not quite as the tagline suggests ‘Where the fun times roll’ but it’s a clean cool spot with good familiar food. So if or when the heat of the day gets to you, or you’ve had one too many near misses on the road it serves its purpose as a familiar touch point for those craving a bite from home.
