Getting here is half the battle but it’s well worth a little perseverance. It’s located on a dirt road on the left just before the Setraco building. Head down the dirt track as if you are heading for Next cash and carry, and after a quarter of a mile, take the right hand turn. Blu Cabana is a two-story elegant building on the right hand side. Getting here will probably have given you an appetite, but luckily when you pass through the gates it’s a different world. Elegant and refined relaxed spaces, with clean crisp lines and modern art line the walls. Pass through the building and emerge at a minimal, cool outdoor seating area set beside a turquoise modern pool. Whilst there is also a health centre and a kids play area on the same site, most simply come here for the relaxed setting and excellent food. The crowd is predominantly expat and foreign businessmen and businesswomen. In particular, Lebanese groups sit and chat to a soundtrack of Balearic house outside, while the red glow of shisha and cigar smoke lights up the dusk. Food is a selection of pizzas, pastas, burgers, and sandwiches, with a particular emphasis on Lebanese and Middle-eastern dishes, Lebanese flat breads, tender shwarma, creamy hummus, and perfectly spiced kibbeh. Service is impeccable. Smartly dressed waitresses are attentive, and food is remarkably quick. If you are looking for a real haven in the city, this is a strong contender.
