Midway between Adetekunbo Adewola Street and Karimu Kotun on Oko Awo Street sits 355 Restaurant and Lounge. It’s a modern, stylish building with a bamboo pergola along one side of the driveway covering several sofas and tables. Having only opened in December 2013 the buildings stone cladding and mirrored windows make it a stylish addition to the quiet street.
Inside, the bar advertises itself as Mexican food/sports bar/Margarita bar all rolled into one location. Nestled in one corner is a smallish bar serving draught lager and premium spirits. A bank of TVs screen sporting events and loudspeakers play a range of chilled house and R&B styles. The remainder of the floor space is given over to frosted glass tables and leather chairs.
During the day it’s a relatively stylish spot for well heeled Lagosians to catch-up over lunch. In the evenings the music is cranked and a sociable mix of ‘Oyibo’ (westerners) Lebanese, Indians and Nigerians chatter and eat before hitting Victoria island nightspots. Friday night is ‘Margarita Madness’ with salsa themed music accompanying Mexican food (enchiladas, tacos and tostadas). The rest of the menu is grilled fish (N4000), salads (avocado, tuna or feta cheese) pizza or pasta.
The spot is becoming increasingly popular as people discover it, so if you end up having one or two more margaritas than you intended on the Friday you can always pop back in on Saturday for a choice of English, American or Nigerian all day breakfast (N2800).
