This corner-facing building is set on one of the better streets for nightlife on Victoria Island.
The Nigerian owner has gone some way towards aping the better international hotels on Vic Island, but it falls a little short both in terms of furnishings and facilities. For example the in-room “internet and entertainment system” promises much, but in reality has a cumbersome and impractical interface (although wi-fi is quick). Also the walls are fairly thin, so should your neighbour choose to watch MTV into the small hours you will know about it.
Rooms are spacious though again not finished to a fantastic standard, and the hotel predominantly remains popular with the telecoms and oil workers who frequent it due to its proximity to ex-pat haunts like Pat’s Bar.
Three conference rooms cater to groups between 20 and 250 persons. There is no real business centre on site, although reception is happy to print out documents upon request. Overall though, there is a slightly chaotic air amongst the staff, who were unable to find my booking on arrival and told me unceremoniously to go away and wait while they resolved the issue.
All this being said the hotel is pleasant enough, particularly the grounds. The tree canopy provides plenty of shade, and there’s some comfortable rattan furniture spread around a small kidney-shaped pool with seating for 10 to 15 persons, serviced by a private bar.
It’s a pretty dated offering though, and there are more modern options available in Lagos for the same price (Radisson Blu for example).
