The Tulip Inn was my final hotel stay during my two week exploration of Ghana. By this point in my trip I had experienced a wide range of hotel types from the low end to luxury, the good the bad and the ugly. I was told ahead of time that the Tulip Inn was a nice hotel but after my sketchy experiences at other hotels, I was skeptical.

The Tulip Inn is like a younger sibling to the Golden Tulip and Royal Tulip, so I wasn’t expecting luxury. The lobby was nice. It was decorated with artifacts made by African wood carvers, but I had been fooled by nice lobbies before. The staff was friendly and helpful but my unwavering cynicism got the best of me until I actually saw my room, which was adequate.

It was small and in need of an upgrade, but it was clean and the sheets and towels didn’t appear to be 1,000 years old. I also didn’t get the vibe that I’d be attacked by ants, spiders or water bugs, so as far as I was concerned, I was in the clear. Other hotel amenities that I didn’t get to try included the pool, business center, meeting room and restaurant on premises, along with good wi-fi and a convenient airport shuttle.

The Tulip Inn is close to Accra Mall as well as Kotoka Airport, which for me was perfect, but it’s also not too far from popular areas like Osu and Makola Market.
