Nestled in a quiet pocket of Victoria Island east of Bar Beach, Hotel Bon Voyage is a little bit difficult to find, but the seclusion is well worth it. The layout here feels more like a resort than a traditional hotel, with 85 rooms spread among several buildings inset from a small pool and open patio space. Out at the pool there is space for several dozen guests to relax in chaise lounges, tables and thatch roof cabanas, all overlooking the Kuramo Waters and the Atlantic. This is probably the best part of the hotel.

Adjacent to the pool are a salon, indoor golf simulator (5000 Naira/hour), and a modest gym cabana with a treadmill, two stationary bikes and assorted benches. In the evening, the patio lights up with soft mood lighting and a projection television, and staff barbecue on the corner grill.

Rooms at Bon Voyage are modest in size, very clean and well appointed, with redundant high speed internet, small flat screen televisions with several dozen stations, paid mini-bars, and exceptional bathrooms.

For the business traveler, a productivity center is available with a free computer, copier and scanner, though it was closed during my stay. There is also a bookable conference room and boardroom.

There’s a nice, clean-cut restaurant behind reception that can seat around fifty guests and serves an excellent, multicultural, buffet-style dinner. The hotel bar, in front of reception, also collects a reasonable spectrum of guests, many of them foreign, at night.

Notably, the staff prides itself on exceptional service and you’ll be welcomed to the hotel with a concierge, letter of introduction and a free beverage. That level of service is maintained throughout the stay, with friendly and talkative staff attending the property.
