The Hibiscus is one of Moshi’s newest accommodation options, and makes a wonderful choice for travelers of any level seeking great value-for-price away from a traditional hotel setting.

The B&B’s six rooms are bright, spotless and cheerily decorated, with single, twin and triple bedding arrangements, and four with private bathroom. Linens are fresh and clean and the décor is tasteful and impeccably executed. Outside is a shaded porch and a spacious, well-tended, walled garden with reading benches, lovely flowers and an evening bonfire circle.

A tasty continental breakfast is included with the room price, featuring fresh fruit, yoghurt and other goodies. Full English-style breakfasts can also be arranged, as can lunch and dinner with advance notice. Additional amenities include Wi-Fi in the common areas and several rooms (Wi-Fi comes at modest additional cost), free tea throughout the day, laundry service, a pleasant living room and a small library.

The Hibiscus is located in a converted house on a quiet side street about 2km from central Moshi, and is an easy walk from the town center. The owner is very helpful, and can also arrange town visits and cultural excursions in the area.

Overall, The Hibiscus is an excellent value choice for both short and longer-term stays in Moshi, and a good base pre- and post-safari or Kilimanjaro climb. The same management is also about to open another B&B, Blu Palms, just a few streets away from The Hibiscus, which will be a welcome option for times when The Hibiscus is full.
