You may have seen recent news headlines blaring that violence is being perpetrated against foreigners in South Africa. This may make you hesitant to book a trip, or may make you want to cancel one you’ve already booked.
Don’t.
Please be aware that violence is not directed at ANY and ALL foreigners to the country; it is (unfortunately) being inflicted on immigrants from other African countries who live in few poor townships in Durban and Johannesburg (but not Soweto).
These are places tourists never visit. There have been exactly NO reports of tourists from Europe, America or Asia being attacked, and there has been NO unrest in the touristed parts of Durban and Johannesburg cities.
South Africa is still a safe place to visit.
