12 Fabulous Luxury Cape Town Hotels You Need To Visit

Cape Town is chock full of hotels. From backpackers hostels to business class hotels to private villas, there is something on offer for every budget in the Mother City. Here we list our 15 favorite luxury Cape Town hotels.

1. South Beach Camps Bay

The new kid on the block, South Beach isn’t quite a hotel. Instead it offers nine chic, full-service, ocean facing apartments to rent on a nightly basis. Besides fantastic views and a location just off the main road in Camps Bay, South Beach boasts commissioned for the property pieces by South African artist Lionel Smit and a fabulously private pool. Apartments also have killer sound systems, ultra comfy beds and are designed in conjunction with Cape Town architect Greg Wright. It all feels very A-list exclusive, but remains affordable.

2. Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront

This trendy hotel has a great location right by the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and a swimming pool that feels one with the ocean fronting it. Book the business class rooms on the first floor for the most space. The restaurant and bar here are extremely popular.

3. Blue Views

If you have a family or a small group, renting a villa is the way to go. I loved the properties under the Blue Views banner. All have stupendous Camps Bay locales and smart designs. Penthouse II, featured here, is a personal favorite. Check out the website for more info.

4. Tintswalo Atlantic

For a unique sleeping experience — something you do for one or two nights — it is hard to top the Tintswalo Atlantic, which is the only hotel located inside Table Mountain National Park off the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive between Hout Bay and Cape Town. It has an end-of-the-world feeling, the most special sunset views around, and five-star dining and food on par with this property’s stellar atmosphere.

5. Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel

The Mount Nelson has been the hotel of choice for the elite since opening in 1899 and the guest list here includes all the usual A-list suspects including Oprah and Kate Moss. It is very old world colonial in the charm department and you can’t miss it, as this stylish grand dame is painted a pretty shade of pink.

6. The Westin Cape Town

Right between the Waterfront and Long Street, the Westin has a great location. It also has the coolest sauna in Cape Town — it’s on the 19th floor of the hotel and with stunning views. The indoor pool and jacuzzi has similarly impressive city and Table Mountain views. Try for a club level upgrade, especially if you have Starwood rewards points.

7. Cape Grace

This boutique hotel with a design focus sits on a private quay at the edge of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and is a luxury stalwart. It is also home to a world famous whiskey bar, Bascule.

8. Taj Cape Town

This is a really cool downtown Cape Town sleep in two 19th-century landmark buildings including the old South African Reserve Bank building. Besides elegant rooms, it has a champagne bar and a number of choice dining options on site.

9. Twelve Apostles

In a stellar location just a few miles outside of Camps Bay on the way to Hout Bay, this five-star property is consistently rated one of the best luxury sleeps in Cape Town.

10. Dockhouse

Another wonderful boutique option in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront area, it has opulent, stylish rooms in a colonial style residence.

11. One & Only Cape Town

Part of the exclusive One & Only brand, this property in the center of the V&A Waterfront area doesn’t disappoint. It offers lux digs with included breakfast and a unique layout to its grounds.

12. Protea Hotel Fire & Ice

Right at the edge of Green Point before heading into the CBD, the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice is another hip option with a very cool vibe inside.
