Travel Tip Of The Day: Use Public Transit

There’s no reason to burn a hole in your wallet by renting a car while in Africa — just do as the locals do and take public transit.

It’s usually safe, much cheaper, plus you don’t have to worry about driving the often hectic African roads yourself.

And in some places like Lagos, driving your own car should probably be avoided unless you are Mario Andretti.

If you are worried about safety, you’re always better in higher numbers instead of taking a seedy looking cab in the evening.

So whether it’s a tro tro in Ghana or a matatu in Kenya, like the rest of the world, public transit around Africa is generally safe, reliable and gets you where you’re going faster.
