Travel Tip Of The Day: Leave Space For Souvenirs

When you’re packing for your next African trip, consider leaving some extra space in your luggage for souvenirs.

You’ll probably want to grab more souvenirs browsing all of the great handmade arts and crafts that can be found in Africa, and it would be a shame if you have to say no for lack of room.

These locally produced crafts and keepsakes are also deeply rooted in African culture, so it isn’t exactly all tourist trinkets like you might find in Europe.

Do you really need that many different shirts, hoodies, jackets and three different pair of shoes? Unless you are attending a fashion show in Cape Town, the answer is probably no.

Stick to the basics, underwear and socks, keep several pair, the rest? It’s not a big deal if you wear the same stuff a few times on vacation.

And if you do need some extra clothes, Africa has plenty of clothing shops (usually at bargain prices) to get what you need, a good excuse to bring an almost empty suitcase and plan a shopping spree.
