Apple has just released its new payment system called Apple Pay — where people can purchase goods right from their iPhone. But don’t expect that in most parts of Africa anytime soon.
When you’re traveling in Africa, cash is king.
Though credit and debit cards can get you by at a hotel or fancy restaurant, you still will need cash for most shops, grocery stores, taxis, and almost everywhere in the more rural cities.
So don’t think you can get by just on plastic or the latest iPhone, be sure to stop by the bank and get some cold hard cash out the next time you head to Africa.
