While you might want to sport some bling when walking around the streets of your hometown, doing this in a city like Lagos or Johannesburg is probably a bad idea.
This doesn’t just mean a gold chain on your neck. Take off the diamond earrings and Versace shades, too.
Though you’ll probably see quite a few locals in fancy rides or looking like they are ready to hit the clubs, this shouldn’t be you.
After all, no matter how hard you try to blend in, you’ll still probably look like a tourist by your mannerisms and dress, so there’s no need to draw even more attention.
So leave the bling in the hotel room safe, or better yet, don’t bring it on the trip at all — you probably would have lost it on the beach anyway.
