Arguably the best located-hotel in Lagos, the modernist brushed metal and mirrored glass frontage of the Radisson Blu Anchorage faces east across a lagoon inlet, and offers fantastic views from Victoria Island to Ikoyi – which the hotel wisely takes full advantage of throughout the property.
There is a large ground-floor terrace with outdoor pool area comprising one large pool and a smaller children’s pool. Alongside the pools and wet bar there is a golf bar with putting green and driving range. It’s a great space to meet business acquaintances and in the evening it’s a spectacular setting from which to watch the speedboats navigate the waterways. A private jetty is available for those wishing to take to the water themselves, with a boat ride costing for $150 for a 4-hour round trip.
A large water feature dominates the expansive, four-story lobby space, which features a bar/grill on one side and restaurant to the other. The central section is reserved for a large bank of windows in the aptly named “View Bar,” allowing river views in air-conditioned comfort. Rooms are spacious, well-finished, light and airy, and benefit either from river views or a cushioned window seat area looking out over Victoria Island. The finish and build quality is excellent, as you would expect with a Radisson offering. There is a good-sized desk and the high speed Wi-Fi make this a comfortable space from which to work. The third floor boasts a business lounge for private meetings, as well as two boardrooms and four meeting rooms, the largest of which accommodates 110 guests.
For those keen on fitness, the health centre is very well provisioned and has a bank of running machines overlooking the Lagoon as well as massage services and a steam room. The breakfast includes a range of muesli, seeds and fresh fruit alongside some of the better hot breakfast offerings in Lagos.
There is a lot for the money here and Radisson Blu Anchorage rightly justifies its position as one of the best hotels in Lagos.
