Zibaldone at Tygervalley Waterfront is an authentic Italian restaurant that offers an upmarket yet relaxed dining experience and some excellent food. The Italian owners regularly speak Italian throughout the restaurant which really adds to the mood and atmosphere at Zibaldone. During the day they serve light meals that are perfect for seating outside next to the water and enjoying the beautiful scenery. At night, Zibaldone turns into a romantic Italian getaway that’s perfect for any date or special occasion. The modern décor, dark wood furniture and luxurious napkins add to the great experience that is Zibaldone. Service is friendly and very polite and you’ll find a great mix of seafood, grills, pastas and even delicious artisan pizzas on certain afternoons and evenings.

When I was seated, I was served a selection of complimentary breads and balsamic vinegar and olive oil. For starters, I ordered the Baked Mushrooms served in garlic and cheese sauce. The buttons mushrooms were cut up and served in a deliciously tasty cheese sauce with a strong but not overpowering garlic flavour. This is one light dish that won’t leave you smelling like garlic.

For mains, I ordered the Veal Schnitzel served with a wonderful side salad and salty, crispy chips. The schnitzel was thicker, golden and absolutely tender. What a succulent piece of meat! If you’re a fan of veal, you’ll find a few great dishes at Zibaldone that are sure to be worth the trip!

For dessert, I had to try the Bailey’s Crème Brulee served with seasonal berries and a lemon crème fraiche. I’ve had quite a few crème brulees in my life and this one is definitely at the top of the list. It’s unique Bailey’s flavour and accompaniment of lemon crème and berries was so perfect, I almost wanted to order another one, although one is more than enough!
