Woolworths, a hugely popular department store selling clothes, homewares and food, has always been a firm favourite of mine. They are slightly more expensive than other shops and even though I keep telling myself to stop going back to them I can’t help myself. Their quality is excellent. So it’s no doubt that I’m also a huge fan of their café, and love going on a regular basis.
Today, after noticing a very sad-looking fridge, I decided to pop in for lunch and as usual I was not disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, they do have unhealthy options such as cakes and pastries, but if you’re looking for something healthy then this is still one of the best places to go. I opted for a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and the salad sandwich on soya linseed bread, toasted. This came with avocado, cucumber, crisp onion, hummus and carrot. What a generous portion of avocado! My plate was piled high. I could honestly eat this every day for lunch and not tire of it. It was absolutely scrumptious. After that I finished off with a delicious cup of coffee and sat for a bit longer to enjoy my surroundings.
Despite being in a busy shopping mall (Cavendish Square), Woolworths Café is tucked into a corner that seems rather separate from the rest. At lunchtime it can get very busy inside, as it was today, but my waitress remained calm throughout. I love coming here because I get the same quality every time. I stayed for a very long time as I had brought work with and nobody came to hurry me up at all, which is always great. Nothing worse than going somewhere to eat and getting dagger eyes thrown at you because you are taking too long. I’ll always be a Woolworths fan.
