The Village Bistro at the local Park n Shop in Bergvliet is a gem to be discovered. They offer excellent food for reasonable prices as well as good service and a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Sit inside the more upmarket and comfortable seating area or enjoy the sun and watch the hustle and bustle go by in the outside smoking area. The Village Bistro is open for lunch and dinner and offer some really high-end dishes as well as lighter and more cost-effective options. They also have daily specials like the Chef’s Curry of The Day and the Gourmet Burger of The Day. Service is extremely quick, usually because they are very quiet, but that doesn’t affect the atmosphere which remains upbeat and relaxing.

For starters, I ordered the Calamari served with tartar sauce and savoury rice. My starter was brought to me in a flash and I thoroughly enjoyed the light, tasty batter and the tender calamari strips.  As for the tartar sauce, it was definitely homemade and of a high quality because I couldn’t get enough.

When I saw the Gourmet Burger of The Day on the board, I immediate wanted to try it so I couldn’t wait to try the Bavarian Burger, consisting of a grilled beef burger, a potato rosti, sauerkraut, bacon, mustard and mayo. This all came served with French fries. I couldn’t believe how well this burger meshed together creating a truly unique and delicious experience. As a burger lover, I will definitely be going back just to try out some of the chef’s other creations.

Then I ordered the most well-presented dessert I have ever received. I was completely shocked when I saw the amazing presentation of the Tiramisu at The Village Bisto. It came with tons of different sauces and elements to try and is definitely a fantastic Dessert of the Day. Hopefully they’ll make this again soon because I can’t wait to enjoy it again. It was also very cheap and the best dish I had all month!
