I went to Vicky Cristina’s a few years ago when I was living in Durban and I loved it so I was excited to find out that they were opening a branch in Cape Town. Especially since it was in Camps Bay! They opened up on the Tuesday and we went on the Friday night. I was expecting the place to be deserted considering they had just opened but I was surprised to see quite a few people. It’s a lovely spot, overlooking the Camps Bay beach and the perfect place to enjoy a meal and a few glasses of wine. Although I must highly recommend the Sangria which was absolutely delicious!
The food was excellent. We were told that their tapas were to die for so we decided to start off by sharing two different tapas before going onto the mains. We had the crumbed Halloumi which came with an Aubergine Puree and the Catalan Veal which came with a savoury chocolate sauce. Wow. Both were amazing and quite big portions.
After that we each went for one of their ‘Cocas’ which is their Spanish flatbread. I had the Francisco and my husband had the Pablo. The Francisco came with a tomato, caramelised onion and olive with avocado and rocket. The Pablo came with chorizo, peppadew and onion with avocado and smoky paprika picante. We weren’t even that hungry after the starters but we almost polished these off too!
After that we enjoyed a cup of coffee while watching the sun go down. Absolutely beautiful view from this restaurant! The staff are incredible and we will definitely be back!
