Tuscany beach is one of dozens of seaside restaurants facing the ocean in Camps Bay, so if you are visiting the area as a tourist, it can be pretty hard to pick one. After walking most of the Camps Bay strip back and forth, we settled on Tuscany Beach as it wasn’t super busy, looked cool enough, and featured an open plan restaurant, so no matter what seat you got, you were bound to have a nice view and a breeze.

The interior is painted all white, features white and blue furniture, and reminds one more of Mykonos in Greece than it does of Tuscany. There’s a swanky bar on the east side of the building which was empty when we went, but looked like a nice enough venue to hang out at night. You can tell it probably gets hopping at once the sun goes down due to the stockpile of liquor bottles behind the bar.

The menu is quite extensive and offers an assortment of breakfast items, burgers, sandwiches and plenty of tasty-looking seafood choices. We started with the cajun calamari and wound up with a huge portion, and despite not being super fancy, was probably the tastiest calamari I’ve had in South Africa. For mains, we had a veggie burger and a sweet short rib pulled pork sandwich. The veggie burger was firm and cooked well, but could have used a bit more spice or sauce to go with it. The pulled pork sandwich was rather good, slightly on the sweet side (though I knew that before I got into it) and extra tender. It’s not what you’d get at a Southern BBQ joint in the US, but it still hit the spot.

Throughout our meal, the server was nice and attentive, knew the menu well, and was genuinely a pleasure to talk to. Come here if you want an affordable tasty meal while relaxing and people watching in a prime area of Camps Bay.
