Tribakery is not the easiest place to find when you go to Cavendish Square mall to do some shopping, but that’s what I like about it. I’m not a huge fan of food courts so it’s always nice to discover a place that’s a little more hidden and a welcome retreat from all the people.
I’ve been to Tribakery many times and always find myself returning. It has a great feel to it, and being the coffee fan that I am I always seem to have a very good cup of coffee when I’m there. They serve a very big breakfast selection, with my favourite by far being the waffle stack with cream, sliced banana and chocolate sauce. Recently, however, I decided to go try one of their burgers. I chose the Mediterranean Beef which is basically a beef patty with olives, pesto, rocket and parmesan. I love burgers and this one didn’t disappoint. One of my friends had the bacon, brie and caramelized onion burger, which I must admit I had a bit of food envy over. Mine was great, but this one was definitely better, so I know what I’m ordering next time.
Tribakery is a lovely place with a good selection of food: Soups, flatbreads, gourmet sandwiches, burgers, salads, pastas, sharing boards and desserts. They have stores in Noordhoek, Tokai, Blue Route Mall, Kalk Bay, Cavendish, V&A Waterfront, Century City, Bree Street, Simons Town, Kuilsriver and Fish Hoek. I’ve only tried the Cavendish store, so I’m interested to see what the others are like.
Tribakery has a few conveniently located branches in Cape Town that are perfect for those days spent in the mall or on the go. They offer classic light meals, and some great options for the extra-hungry too. They make a fantastic cup of coffee and serve a variety of coffees, drinks and even frozen lemonade that you have to try! And they’re not called “Tribakery” for no reason. You can enjoy a great selection of cakes and baked goods that are so delightful, you’ll want to buy extra to take home for later.
We spotted by Tribakery just in time for lunch and I had trouble deciding which of their amazing dishes to try. As a big sandwich fan, I ordered the New York club with chicken breast fillet, bacon, mozzarella, lettuce and mayo. When my sandwich arrived, I was surprised at the big portion. Three thick slices of ciabatta bread with a mountain of club toppings that were succulent, tasty and delicious.
Most meals at Tribakery are served with salad or chips and both make a great side to a good sandwich. To drink, I had to try out their coffee as I’ve only heard good things. My cappuccino was served in a big cup with some fancy artwork in the foam and I could tell from the aroma that it was going to be good. I would definitely visit Tribakery again, just for the coffee.
I was pretty full after my meal, but I had to try the peppermint chocolate cake that was on display in the restaurant. I was served a huge slice of checked green and black cake with thick layers of chocolate fudge icing. Absolutely to die for, but so was everything else we enjoyed at Tribakery! Stop by if you’re if the mood for some great service with a smile, delicious baked goods and a fantastic cup of coffee! There also have a few great specials so make sure to ask about those.
