Located right on the harbor at the V&A Waterfront, this restaurant is part of the upscale Radisson Blu Hotel but is open to non-guests. It offers seating inside and outside on a huge patio deck by the pool — when the sun is shining and the wind is still it is a beautiful place to dine, but it can get very cold when the winds pick up. Should this happen there is plenty of seating inside the large lobby restaurant, which features views from its large picture windows.
The menu takes up a number of pages and focuses heavily on chicken, meat and seafood grilled in various fashions – including a lot of South African dishes. That said, there are some options for vegetarians (including an excellent Cape Malay curry choice). And should you just be looking for something small, the appetizer menu is quite varied offering everything from a few salad selections to shaved asparagus and calamari tubes (which of course I ordered, and despite being crumbed and fried, I found to be tasty).
For mains choose from seared line fish, king prawns, baked kingklip, Karoo lamb and a number of steak and chicken options. One good choice for some local Cape Town-style cooking is the Malay curry, which comes with sambals and homemade butter roti and a variety of flavors including vegetable and potato, line fish and chicken. There is also a carefully curated and lengthy wine menu that focuses on South African and international varietals. On Sunday there is a popular buffet option as well with dozens of different choices.
