Thai Café specializes in quick, Thai food and noodles that will blow your socks off! They have a few branches around Cape Town, including Hout Bay, Claremont and even Stellenbosch. I visited the Sea Point restaurant on a busy weeknight and was incredibly impressed with the food and the atmosphere. Thai Café serves a wide variety of flavourful Thai dishes, like Stir Fry, Noodles, Salads, Curry and some great Chef’s Specials. All main courses and served with steamed jasmine rice or egg noodles and can be ordered mild, medium, hot or Thai style. The cool thing about Thai Café is that they’re open 7 days a week and they also deliver. Whether you’re stopping in for lunch or dinner, I think you’ll be happily satisfied after a meal at Thai Café!

For starters, I ordered the Satay Gai which consists of 4 Chicken satay skewers served with their own special peanut sauce. Although the satay wasn’t very visually appealing and was quite a tiny portion, it definitely was tasty and left me wanting more. The peanut sauce was rich and sweet. Very good! I wouldn’t order the Satay Gai again, but I would try some of their other starters instead.

For mains, I ordered the Basil Crispy Pork with mixed vegetables, garlic, onion and fresh Basil. My meal came with steamed jasmine rice but I also ordered a side of egg fried rice because they make a great one at Thai Café. It’s packed with flavour and goes very well with every dish on the menu at Thai Café, especially my Basil Crispy Pork. I would definitely recommend this dish to pork lovers and people looking for a healthy option can avoid the rice and just eat the dish by itself.

All in all, I will definitely be returning to Thai Café as the food is consistent and they offer something for everyone, no matter what sort of Thai food you’re in the mood for. This isn’t a 5 star restaurant so don’t expect too much, but it’s definitely a reliable place that served great food with value for your money!
