Tasha’s has a few branches in South Africa and even one in Dubai, but the recently opened Tasha’s at the V&A Waterfront is a must-try for anyone in Cape Town. They offer a great menu as well as their Signature menu which is definitely worth exploring. It boasts a great atmosphere and some unique décor that makes you feel like you’re visiting an upmarket restaurant in Europe.

Although the restaurant was busy when I stopped by on a Friday evening, they found me a great table with comfy couch seating. I was overwhelmed by the enticing dishes on the menu and chose to start with the Tuna Montaditos tapas: two thick-cut slices of bread topped with a load of fresh tuna mixture and lettuce. It was crunchy, tasty, and if tuna isn’t your style, there are a range of other toppings to try.

For mains, I had to try the pork ribs and corn on the Signature menu. I went with a half portion, as the tuna tapas was quite filling, but a full portion is also available for the hungry. When my meal arrived, it looked absolutely mouth-watering. The pork ribs were by far some of the most delicious sweet and smokey ribs I’ve ever had. They were tender, juicy and full of real BBQ flavour. The grilled corn made a beautiful side dish and it’s definitely something I would try again.

For dessert, I had lots to choose from. Freshly baked goods and marvellous cakes are on display in the restaurant and come highly recommended, but I just had to try the cremé Catalan. A variation of the popular cremé brulee, my dessert was incredible. Full of subtle spice and citrus flavours and a familiar baked custard texture that no one can resist.

Overall, a wonderful time, meal and vibe. Tasha’s is my new favourite spot at the V&A Waterfront!
