Tasha’s Constantia has a style all its own. From the open plan eatery to its soft green and cream highlights, it’s completely unique to the V&A Waterfront branch. The gorgeous outside eating area is softly light by candle filled lanterns in the evening and the upbeat music drifts through and whisks you away from the hustle and bustle of Constantia Village. The outside seating area is a great setting for weekend brunch and summer lunches, while the quiet inside area is more appropriate for family dinner and when the weather is cooler. There are a lot of light meals to choose from as well as a great dinner menu which features everything from French Onion Soup to a fantastic selection of freshly baked goods.

For starters, I had to try the homemade French Onion Soup with melted gruyere croutons as it looked absolutely delicious. Cheesy, light and a wonderfully tasty starter, I would definitely recommend this dish on a cold evening or when you’re in the mood for something hearty. Served in an authentic brass pot, the best part is definitely the warm gruyere croutons. What a fragrant, warm French comfort dish!

For mains, I tried the Constantia Burger which is unique to this branch of Tashas. A 200g homemade beef burger with gorgonzola, bacon, lettuce, tomato and red onion served with French fried and mayo on a crispy sesame bun. The beef was wonderfully cooked and great tasting. Fries and mayo are another classic French take on the American style with ketchup and go very well with the Constantia burger. The gorgonzola is different and really adds a punch to the soft, melt-in-your-mouth bun.

For dessert, I had to try the Cheesecake and I wasn’t disappointed. Creamy, rich and oh, so indulgent, the light texture really compliments a well-rounded meal and is full of flavour. In fact, I’d recommend any of the freshly baked goods at Tasha’s Constantia as well as their unique Ice Cream parlour, located right next door.

I’ve been a fan of Tasha’s for a very long time, since I first discovered it when I was living in Durban. When I moved to Cape Town I was so pleased to find that it was also here. The one we ended up going to was at the beautiful Constantia Village, one of my favourite places to go to on a weekend. I love Constantia, and so being able to go there and find one of your best restaurants definitely made me happy.

We chose to go for our one month anniversary this year because we knew it would offer us exactly what we needed. It’s quiet without being too quiet, and it has an atmosphere that is very light and happy. We treated ourselves to some champagne and spent ages trying to decide what to have. I was doing a big running race soon and I convinced myself that carbo-loading was important. Thus, I ended up going for one of my favourite Tasha menu items. Super simple and yet so good. The Napolitano fettuccine. Once again, it lived up to my expectations. I love meals that don’t rely on a million different ingredients to make it taste good. Warren normally goes for a pasta but this time he decided to try the Spaniard Quesadilla, which was filled with chorizo, crème fraiche, lettuce, onion, cheddar tomato, coriander and guacamole. Definitely recommended. Then, for more anniversary celebrations, we ended off with cake and cappuccinos. I’m a massive cupcake fan so I opted for the red velvet cupcake (which I would go back a million times for) and Warren went for the flourless chocolate cake. Both great options to end the night off. They have the cakes on display which I like because then you know exactly what you are getting.

    I love Tasha’s.
