I’m a huge fan of Social Bean Café. Not for the venue, not for the location and not for the atmosphere. Quite simply because the food is excellent and it’s one of the cheapest places I’ve ever ordered from in Cape Town. For that price you would expect the food to be bland or tiny but this is not the case. I have ordered twice from this place before, both times just ordering as take away. The last time I went I ordered the butternut, feta and sundried tomato on a whole wheat rustic homemade seeded roll which came to only R34. It was huge and they did not skimp on the butternut or the feta. The two guys I went with ordered the bacon, avocado, feta and onion tramezzini which was only R38 each. Incredible! I could honestly eat this every day and at that price I’d probably save money.

The place itself is quite nice and cosy and situated right next to the Checkers Store, so I’m sure they get a lot of their customers from people who are out to do their grocery shopping. That’s how I found them.

The first time I went was for a business meeting and we just had coffee and I was completely taken aback at how good the coffee was. Also the staff are incredibly friendly and very quick to come and help you and answer any questions.

It’s a very simple and social place, with fantastic food and great specials. If you’re looking for a place that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and yet still tastes great then I would highly recommend this.
