I’ve been a huge fan of Simply Asia since moving to Cape Town two years ago. It’s one of the few places I really go to when I want to get take away. You always have the option of sitting inside but I always end up taking my food home. There’s just something about eating authentic Thai cuisine out of takeaway cardboard boxes and chopsticks that just makes me want to be curled up in front of the TV to enjoy it. The inside section is actually very nice. It has a very serene feel to it and I like the clean and simple décor inside. We normally go to the Cavendish Square branch purely because that is the most convenient for us, but their branches are all over. If you visit their website you can find one closest to you.

Their menu is huge and they have given each item both a name and a number so that if you cannot pronounce the meals name you can just order by the number. My number, almost each and every time, is 302. This falls under the Thai Specialities list and is called the Phad Med Nam-Man-Hoi, translated as Cashew Nut Stir-Fry. This stir fry comes with a mix of onions, red and green peppers, spring onions, cashew nuts and is flavoured with fried garlic and tossed in a stir-fry sauce. I used to always have it with noodles but lately I’ve taken to having it with rice which I am just loving at the moment. You just cannot go wrong with the 302.

My husband normally goes for the 514, which is the Ba-Mee Prik Phao, translated as Roasted Chilli Paste and Cashew Nut Noodles. This has onions, peppers, spring onions, cashew nuts, fried garlic and roasted chilli paste tossed with yellow noodles in a stir-fry sauce. He normally has this with noodles. It’s delicious but a bit on the hot side for me.

    Excellent food!
