Reuben’s is tucked away inside the One&Only hotel, away from the crowds of the busy V&A Waterfront. With a stunning view of Table Mountain as its backdrop, and canals with small boats passing in the foreground, the setting here is delightfully serene.
Surrounded by a glass walled wine cellar, the entrance of the restaurant is an eyeful. The high ceilings, beautiful floral arrangements, dark wood and simple decor give the restaurant an elegant and chic look and feel.
With a variety of menus including a seafood menu, Sunday lunch menu, dessert menu and seasonal a la carte menu, there is definitely plenty to choose from. We decided to head to the Sunday lunch buffet and enjoy a sampling of everything that the restaurant had to offer.
Even though we had to queue for our food, everything was so well thought of and organised that we didn’t have to wait long at all. And the food was exceptional. With seven starters, 11 entrées and seven desserts to tuck into we were spoilt for choice. The buffet also includes plenty of South African favourites like pickled fish in Cape Malay spices, Malva pudding and milk tart. There’s nothing like getting a taste of home in a refined, beautifully presented plate of food.
Even though there is limited parking available on the hotel premises, a shuttle (golf cart) is available to take guests to the parking lot down the road. Or you could walk — especially on beautiful, windless days guests should definitely explore this exclusive side of the Waterfront.
