Posticino Italian restaurant in Sea Point is a hidden gem for all pizza lovers. Whether you’re sitting down to eat or just grabbing a takeaway, their food always delivers and so does their service. As they’re such a popular place, it’s often hard to get a table, especially if you want to sit outside, which is the best spot in the house. They also serve gluten-free pizza which is very popular with the locals and tourists and some of the best in Cape Town. Although I did have to wait 45 minutes for my food, I must say, it was well worth it!

For starters, I ordered the caprese foccacio, which is pizza bread, garlic, sliced tomato, mozzarella, basil pesto and herbs. The ingredients were fresh and tasty and made for a stellar starter that I would definitely order again. If you’re only feeling peckish, you could also enjoy this as a main meal! That basil pesto and fresh tomato really hit the spot after a long day, and is something I can’t wait to order again.

For main I went with a classic porchetta pizza with bacon, avocado and extra banana. The pizza base at Posticinos is thin, but not too thin, crispy but not dry and topped with a good amount of toppings. All in all, I’d say Posticino’s pizza is perfect for the authentic Italian food lovers. In fact, I reckon once you’ve tried this pizza, you won’t want to order pizza from anywhere else ever again.

Posticino also serves great antipasta, insalata, and pastas that I’ve heard great things about. The atmosphere is that of an upmarket but relaxed old established restaurant, and dining outside on a summer evening and enjoying some of Cape Town’s best Italian food is just a dream come true!
