They describe themselves as ‘Think Mad Hatter meets Peter Rabbit interior with a menu reminiscent of Gran’s hearty and wholesome cooking’. This description is quite spot on. Despite being a very small little restaurant it manages to still allow for a lot of creativity and homeliness. I loved it.

I’ve been twice now. The first time was for a date night with my husband where he enjoyed spaghetti and meatballs (with ostrich mince) while I had the roast butternut and mint couscous salad (which was couscous tossed with fresh mint, crispy bacon and coast butternut, served with a honey dressing, toasted pumpkin seeds and one huge portion of Danish feta). Both were delicious and enjoyed with a glass of wine.

The second time we went for the famous quiz night, which happens every Tuesday. This was so much and you definitely have to book because it’s very popular and the venue cannot hold a massive crowd. It’s R40 per person to play and you need a group of four. This option includes a bottle of wine. For only R100 though you get the quiz, the wine and a dinner. This was the option we chose and guests are given the option of two different pastas, a vegetarian and the ostrich. It was such a fun night.

Other specials on offer are Mac & Cheese Mondays from 6pm, at only R30 or an extra R10 for bacon. Wednesday is Hump Day where they offer two pastas and two glasses of wine for only R130. Last but not least is Waffles on the Weekend, open for breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday and using The Creamery ice-cream.

    Cute, cosy, and delicious.
