Nestled right near the water in Mouille Point, Pepenero features a seafood-focused menu with many Italian flavors, although there are options for those who don’t enjoy ocean fresh options. It also occupies a big airy space with artsy, sophisticated décor.

My friend and I ate here on a Friday afternoon, at a sort of late for lunch hour, yet the restaurant was still decently busy. We were seated promptly however, and the service was friendly and efficient.

In the mood for something healthy, I tried the chicken and avocado salad. While it doesn’t stand out as the most amazing salad I’ve ever eaten, I can’t say there was anything bad about it either. The chicken wasn’t fatty, and the portions of avocado, apple, feta and cucumber the mixed greens were topped with were also generous. My friend tried the cashew nut pasta and he said he enjoyed the mint, basil, garlic and mango flavor fusion that mixed well with the cashews and grilled chicken.

If you are in the mood for ocean offerings, however, then the Sole Pepernero is a house specialty. The fish is sautéed in honey, lemon and onion and then topped with arugula, Parmesan, olive oil, balsamic and avocado. Vegetarians are also taken care of with both starter and main course offerings. Pepenero also features a decadent dessert menu.

Make sure to use the restroom while visiting as there is some cool local artwork on display (and for sale) in the corridor outside it. Overall, Pepenero isn’t a bad option if you are staying in the Mouille Point neighborhood and looking for a varied menu that covers everything from seafood to pasta to salads.
