I’ve been to a lot of wine farms since living in Cape Town (as you do), and this is still one of my favourites, and one that I will always flock to again and again. Especially when overseas visitors come to stay, because it shows off everything that Cape Town has to offer. I cannot even explain how breath-taking this place is. The first time I went I only had plans to stay for one quick glass of wine before hopping over to the next wine farm, but ended up staying for hours.
There is a restaurant at the wine estate, called The Overture, however I have never sat down for a proper meal before. Instead, all three times that I’ve been, I have gone for wine tasting, which is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. It’s so much fun and the experience is long and enjoyable. Every wine gets explained in detail and then you are left to enjoy. It makes for a very relaxed afternoon.
We always have either the gourmet cheese platter or the olive tasting, both of which goes very well with the wine tasting experience. Yet to try, but definitely on my list, is their chocolate and wine pairing experience, the Hidden Valley picnics (which includes an indulgent picnic basket), a nature trail, and their cellar tours.
I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place, and will continue to go as often as I can. It deserves all the recognition it gets, and hands down wins for me as one of the best views a venue can have.
