Nando’s is an extremely popular restaurant, in both South Africa and various other countries worldwide. Originating in South Africa and known for its Portuguese flavours, it is by far one of the best places to go for chicken. It’s very easy to find a Nando’s here, as they dot almost all the suburbs in Cape Town. The one I went to was the popular branch in Rondebosch, busy due to its location in Main Road. Whenever I go past I see people inside.

The restaurant has a nice inside seated section which has a very warm, earthy and rustic feel to it. However, I would guess that most people choose to get their food as a takeaway, especially since there are a lot of good bulk family options. I decided to go the takeaway route and joined the many other people waiting on the couch for their orders to come through.

I battled to decide, but ended up choosing the chicken strips and spicy rice with extra feta and the chicken burger. With all the meals you have to choose which Nando’s spice you want. The different options are mild, medium, hot, extra-hot, or lemon and herb peri peri sauce. I chose mild for both my meals, which was definitely the right thing for me as the chicken was spicy but not hot. My favourite was by far the chicken strips and spicy rice dish. It was simple and so tasty.

Nando’s has been popular for many years here, and since its inception the quality of the food has not changed, so I can only guess it will continue to be good in years to come. Great place if you’re looking for some tasty chicken!
