Louis’ On The Block is a small, homely restaurant in the middle of Bergvliet where locals like to go and enjoy a great meal in the friendly atmosphere and have a chat with Louis too. They specialize in pizza, grills, takeaways and they even serve gluten-free pizzas. The restaurant has a classic, homely feel and the staff are lovely and offer great service. Louis’ also serves a new lite menu that caters to dieters as well as a kid’s menu. The setting is similar to a quaint tavern and features a lovely outside area that’s romantic, warm on summer evenings and is a great spot to enjoy the delicious food served at Louis’!
To start, I ordered the Pita Bread with Caramelised Onion and Feta. Pita Bread is usually very average so I wasn’t expecting much, but when my starter arrived I couldn’t wait to tuck in. It smelt amazing and looked even better. The pita bread was the size of a large pizza and was thin, soft and crispy. The caramelized onions were not too sweet and the amount of toppings was perfect for a light, starter. This is a great starter to share and was actually the star of the evening for me!
For mains, I ordered the 600g Pork Spare Ribs with chips. The chips were great and the ribs were tender and juicy. There was a subtle BBQ flavour but they weren’t too sweet. I loved the basting and I’ve got to say, they were the best tasting ribs I’ve had in ages. I would definitely recommend getting the ribs at Louis’!
For dessert, I ordered the chocolate mousse off the specials boards and it was light, airy and perfect to end off a heavy meal. It was a simple dessert topped with cream but it was perfect and tasted of rich, milk chocolate.
