Liquorice & Lime opened on Kloof Street in 2006 and although it’s still rather unknown amongst tourists, as the Cape Town locals like to keep this spot all to themselves, it’s a definite must-visit in the city centre! The gourmet café is open 7 days a week and serves some amazing breakfasts, light meals, main meals and cakes that will have you salivating and coming back for more. Besides the amazing food, the service at Liquorice & Lime is absolutely stellar. Not every restaurant on Kloof Street puts so much effort into quality and it definitely pays off at Liquorice & Lime!
I started my meal with the Soup of the Day which was Cream, Broccoli, Parmesan and Watercress, served with ciabatta toast and butter. The soup was absolutely delicious and I will definitely be returning just to check out what other soups they have on offer that day. Creamy, subtle flavours and very fillings!
For mains, I chose another gem off the Daily Specials board, which was the Chicken Wrap with Lettuce, Tomato, Almonds and Mango, served with chips. I was very impressed with the simplistic presentation of all the food I enjoyed at Liquorice & Lime and my wrap was very interesting and all the flavours went beautifully together. I would definitely recommend ordering off the specials board.
I couldn’t leave without tasting one of their wonderful-looking freshly baked cakes on display. I chose the Cheesecake and it was like heaven on a plate covered in icing sugar. Yum, yum, yum!
