I love Bree Street, it’s one of my favourite roads in Cape Town. It’s just full of creativity and bursting to the seam with coffee shops, restaurants and art shops. I had to pop into the city today and I had my eye on this place for quite some time so decided to give it a try. So glad I did.
Latitude 33 is awesome. As they say on their website: ‘Bali, Bintang and surf! Known to all living the surf lifestyle as a good time. This is what brought about the concept of Latitude 33. We have found the best of everything we love from our travels and brought it together in a collaboration of food, fashion and art’. This statement is very prevalent in everything from the décor, the atmosphere and the food.
It took me ages to decide what to have but in the end settled on a Roast Veg salad which came with assorted roasted vegetables, feta, toasted seeds and a sesame vinaigrette. I absolutely loved it. My husband went for the Cajun Chicken Sandwich which was a Cajun spiced grilled chicken breast topped with brie, peppadews and avocado served on rye, ciabatta or whole wheat bread. He chose ciabatta but they must’ve forgotten and gave him rye. Luckily it was delicious and didn’t matter. The sandwiches come with your choice of sides, of which he chose the sweet potato crisps. His meal looked so good that the table next to us asked us what he ordered as they wanted to get the same.
They serve Truth coffee so we HAD to get some. I had the Americano and my husband had the cappuccino. Oh man, best coffee ever. I honestly wish I could have this every day.
While in the CBD with a friend looking at a property, we happened by chance upon Lattitude33. Having heard of it before, Latitude 33 was on my mind as a place to try.
Seizing the chance, in we went.
Lattitude, has a couple of outside tables, and regular inside tables, as well as a small & cosy “lounge” area with a pair of large plush leather couches taking pride of place.
Given the “lounge” area had already been claimed, we took a regular table with a view of the outside world. Quite unlike any other restaurant, I felt relaxed and “at home” the minute we entered. There was no sense of urgency at all, I probably could have spent the entire morning at Lattitude33 were it not for other things that needed to be done.
I ordered an Americano coffee & croissant while I went through the menu.
The menu itself is diverse, interesting, and without doubt, has something for everyone.
Going back and forth through them menu, the Breakfast Wrap immediately appealed to me, as did the Pork Belly, but having only been awake for an hour or so, I figured the Pork Belly may be a heavy start to the morning, considering the dashing about still to be done. The Breakfast Wrap it would be.
The Breakfast Wrap delivered exactly what I was after, something light yet filling, and packed with taste. The Wrap is packed with streaky bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and cheese accompanied with a tomato relish.
What a great & relaxing breakfast !
The service was perfect, absolutely perfect – attentive without being intrusive, my meal was exactly what I was looking for, and the ambiance – chilled, a breakfast at Lattitude33 could easily become a whole morning affair.
If you are looking for a good breakfast at a place where you can relax for as long as you please, Lattitude33 is the go-to venue.
