Despite being to Canal Walk Shopping Mall on many occasions I hadn’t really noticed La Rocca, which is rather strange because it has a great location in the middle of the centre and occupies quite a large space. It looked good and we were getting quite hungry after a full day at work and then shopping in the centre, so we decided to give it a try.
Their menu is very diverse and I must say it was hard to decide what to go for. In the end I went for the barbecue fillet steak with mushroom sauce, vegetables and salad. Husband tried the beef fillet strips in Napolitano sauce served with feta, herbs and olives on a bed of penne pasta. It was all just decidedly average and I left the restaurant feeling a bit done in. I must say, the redeeming factor was my steak, which was delicious and cooked perfectly. But the vegetables consisted of less than a handful of butternut pieces and my salad was dismal. Husband enjoyed his pasta but it definitely didn’t have a restaurant star quality to it.
The place was nice but not amazing and the atmosphere seemed a bit dull and lifeless. The food came quickly and the whole experience was over quickly. Our waitress was, however, lovely and she was very attentive and friendly.
I can’t really say anything too bad about the place, but at the same time I don’t really have anything great to say about it either. The padded seats lining the wall were also way too high and I literally had to slouch to eat my food. I’m short and I battled so I’m not sure how a very tall person would have enjoyed this. I’m being picky here, but it’s just little details like this that haven’t been addressed.
Overall it was okay but I don’t see myself returning anytime soon.
