La Perla is an old favourite in Sea Point, serving Italian classics that remind you of your childhood and seafood that will make you glad you came to Cape Town. The food is priced well for the quality and portion sizes and the view is absolutely unbeatable in Sea Point. Although I find that the service is unpredictable and you never know if you’re going to have excellent service or excellently bad service, the food and atmosphere makes La Perla a restaurant that you’re going to want to go back to time and time again. They do tend to give regulars special treatment when it comes to waiting for a table, but all the more reason to become a regular. Also, bigger tables are always seated first, so it you’re not prepared to wait then this isn’t the restaurant for you!

For starters, I ordered the Caprese Salad with succulent tomatoes, slices of soft mozzarella and basil covered with a delicious, high-quality olive oil. This is a great starter to share and the best way to begin an authentic Italian meal. It’s simple and all about the fine quality of the ingredients and La Perla hits the nail on the head with this one!

For mains, I ordered the ever-popular Chicken Schnitzel, served with angel hair pasta. This is definitely my favourite schnitzel in Cape Town and comes with two big pieces of golden brown chicken schnitzel and a big portion of pasta. I would recommend this to any schnitzel fan, but to be fair, you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes at Le Perla.

For dessert, I ordered the Peppermint Crisp tart that was absolutely divine! It was rich, sweet and refreshing. It will definitely cure your sweet tooth and if you’re not into tart, La Perla’s dessert menu will wow you!
