When it comes to breakfast fronting the beach, it is hard to beat La Belle Bistro in Camps Bay. You can sit at a proper table inside or on the patio, or you can sit at one of the well-spaced stools along the long bar fronting the length of the restaurant that have the front-row ocean views.
Located on the second floor of the same building that houses the hot new boutique Hotel Marly (the two are in the same family along with the sushi joint Umi), La Belle has un-obscured views across the main road to the beach and pounding surf. If the weather isn’t cooperating, however, the dining room is equally pleasant and this is a very dog-friendly restaurant with canines enjoying meals with their human guardians.
I grabbed one of these stools and promptly attempted to order an iced vanilla latte. They didn’t quite have it on the menu, but as you can see from the above picture, they went out of their way to create one, and I have to say it wasn’t half bad. Beyond friendly service, the food was also decent. No, this wasn’t the absolute best salmon eggs Benedict I’ve ever had, but it also was far from bad. I enjoyed every bite, really. Beyond the Benedicts the menu featured all the other usual egg-bacon-potato combinations, as well fresh baked goods from the on-site bakery. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner, where it covers everything from burgers and salads to dinner mains like line fish, seared tuna, braised lamb and steak.
