Kobe Sushi is by far one of the most unassuming places I have ever walked past. Situated on Main Road it is easy to miss amongst other big restaurants and doesn’t look like the type of place I’d want to go to. It’s not well advertised, I can’t find a website for them and from the outside it just doesn’t look all that amazing. But we were craving sushi one day and this place was the closest for us and something we could even walk to. So off we went, but we didn’t expect too much.

They have a few tables inside but it definitely feels like more of takeaway place, although they do offer a sit down daily buffet special which sounds good so perhaps it’s worth going one day to sit. We ordered take away this time. The guy making our sushi was very nice and really seemed to know what he was doing. He told us that it was buy two and get another one free and so we ended up getting quite a lot of sushi for a decent price. We took our sushi home and tucked it.

I was pleasantly surprised. The sushi was pretty good. The salmon roses were done beautifully, with just the right amount of rice, salmon and mayo and because of the buy two get one free offer we ended up having quite a lot of roses on our plate. My other favourite was the bamboo roll. This is done different wherever you go, but is always encased by cucumber. Some places make it with rice, others make it without. Kobe did it with the rice and salmon and it was delicious.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. I would definitely go back for the sushi.
