Joe’s Easy Diner at Blue Route is a popular family restaurant that’s loved by locals and movie-goers. With the unique 50s’diner theme, the restaurant is colourful, vibrant and even features a jukebox full of classic diner tunes to enjoy if you have a R2 coin handy. Joe’s Easy Diner used to be a weekly favourite of mine, but unfortunately lately the food and service have gone out the window and you’re left with a restaurant that feels great but just doesn’t deliver!

Once seated in my favourite booth (which was incredibly sticky, dirty and just didn’t feel very clean) I ordered a classic Cream Soda Float which was absolutely delicious, huge and satisfying. Joe’s is well-known for their great variety of thick shakes, but if you’re in the mood for a float, you won’t be disappointed.

For mains, I ordered The Bees Knees burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, guacamole, a dill pickle, brie, cranberry and rocket. This is a gourmet burger if I’ve ever seen one but when my meal arrived, I was less than impressed. The “100%” beef tasted and looked like extremely bad quality and was burnt, which is how Joe’s usually serves all their burgers lately. Although I ordered Bacon and Cheese fries with my burger, the waiter bought me regular fries and simply apologies when I pointed out his mistake, not offering to bring me my correct order. The regular fries were chunky and tasted like frozen chips, but were actually an improvement from when I last ordered them. It seems the staff at Joe’s Diner no longer care about the standard of their service as they all seem preoccupied with something else to focus on their customers.

For dessert, I had to try the Kit-Kat Chocolate Sundae with vanilla ice cream, KitKat, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. You can’t go wrong with a dessert at Joe’s Diner, although there’s nothing special about this one. If you go to Joe’s Diner, go for the fun and the theme, but don’t expect too much from their service and food, or else you’ll be left disappointed!
