I have walked past J.B Rivers for almost two years now, as it is nestled in the heart of Cavendish, a shopping centre I got to very often. It’s just never appealed to me. I think it’s because I’ve never been a fan of very open restaurants, where the shoppers walk straight by you. Shows you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. The other day when at the shopping centre with my husband we had a craving for sushi and I remembered seeing a sushi bar at J.B Rivers. So we decided to give it a go. I must say, I actually battled deciding what to choose. Even though I went there for sushi I was suddenly distracted by everything else on the menu. My husband was adamant he was having sushi so I decided to stick with my original decision and join him, otherwise I might get order envy.
Thank goodness I did. The sushi was amazing. Seriously good! I went for the sashimi, which normally comes in four pieces but the chef decided to cut it thinner and offer it as eight pieces instead. Good call. I love it when sashimi is cut finely. With that I had the Bamboo Spicy Salmon which came with avocado, cucumber and sweet chilli sauce. This was my far my favourite and I have now realised that sweet chilli sauce is the perfect combination to sushi. Then I ordered the seared Tuna, Mayo and Bell Pepper Roll which was delicious. Warren said he enjoyed that the best along with his Salmon Roses.
Overall the price wasn’t too bad and the sushi was amazing. It definitely cured my craving and I will definitely be going back for more. Who cares about the shoppers walking past.
