My husband and I go through a very expensive few weeks every year, because it starts off with our wedding anniversary, followed a week later by my birthday and then followed a week after that by his birthday. This normally sees us going for quite a few meals and eating a rather large amount of cake. During this time we had decided to take a walk and go to one of the restaurants in our area. We had a few in mind but we thought we would decide once we were there. This is when we discovered The Italian Kitchen which had been hiding under our noses this whole time. It’s quite hidden in the corner of The Dean Street Arcade so very easy to miss. I’m glad we found it though because I’m a big lover of Italian food.
I went for a classic Carbonara pasta dish of cream, egg yolk, crispy bacon, thyme and parmesan. I enjoyed it but I think the next time I go back I’d opt for something a bit more complicated. As good as this was it was just far too similar to food I would just make for myself at home. Warren went for the pizza, which came in a square format and was light and crispy to eat. He chose the Duedieci which came with tomato, mozzarella, bacon, feta, onions and avocado.
I really enjoyed the place and the food but unfortunately because not many people know about it the place was a little bit too quiet for my liking. Perhaps with a bit more advertising they’ll attract a nice crowd because the atmosphere of a place can really help or hinder it.
