Hussar Grill in Green Point is rated as one of the best restaurants in Cape Town so I wanted to see how accurate their ranking was when I visited them on a busy evening in peak season. They have a very well-known reputation in Cape Town as one of the best steakhouses around and I have enjoyed plenty a meal at their other restaurants before, but never the one on Green Point Main Road. The restaurant has a classic steakhouse décor with a great view of the Main Road and an extensive selection of wines, steaks and grills.

For starters, I ordered the Fried Crumbed Camembert served as a whole wheel with a side of homemade Cranberry jelly. There’s nothing better to start a great meal that some gooey cheese and this was one high-end fried Camembert. The Cranberry jelly was a great accompaniment to the rich cheesiness and it was difficult to finish this so I would recommend sharing it with your significant other as a romantic starter.

For mains, I ordered the Grilled Little Karoo Lamb Cutlets, just one of the many locally-inspired dishes they offer at Hussar Grill. It’s a great place to try local South African dishes and my lamb cutlets were absolutely perfectly cooked and served with lemon slices. Another great favourite at Hussar Grill are the Spare Ribs that you can order in either 400g or 800g. They also served Grilled Hog Ribs which are highly recommended to the adventurous traveller.

All in all, I had a lovely evening at Hussar Grill and their service and food never loses its shine and class. I would recommend Hussar Grill in Green Point to any meat-lovers!
