Located in the Suncoast Casino complex, where it is one of the more upscale offerings, Havana Grill is the place to be if you like Latin-inflected meat and fish dishes.

From Cuban chicken livers, to roast marrow bones, to chicken Che Guevara, to fettucine Havana, there are no shortage of ways here to satisfy carnivorous cravings.

However, there are plenty of salads and vegetarian options as well, which is actually what I (somewhat contrarily) opted for, and was not disappointed.

The delicious and colorful avo, feta and bacon salad proved to be practically a meal in itself, and offered a huge heaping of extremely ripe veggies, as well as a lovely tangy dressing.

I also sampled the wild mushroom risotto and the cinnamon roast butternut — both fantastic, beautifully presented, and cheerfully served. Not the best I ever had, but this is not what they seem to be aspiring to.

White linen tablecloths, sparkling flatware, an excellent wine list and tuxedo-clad wait staff obscure the fact that this is in fact considered a casual dining establishment. The crowd seemed to be combination of couples and groups celebrating something (perhaps winnings in the nearby casino?), with nary a child in sight, though it was quite late when I dined.

My only qualm is that the menu is perhaps a bit too big and tries to cater to too many tastes, rather than just sticking to the core Latin concept. Havana Grill could probably up its game a little by focusing on doing one thing really well, rather than many things to a satisfactory degree.
