Food Lover’s Market is part of Fruit & Veg City, which has been a firm favourite for South Africans when buying all their fresh fruit and vegetables in week. It was great when they decided to open up a restaurant that promotes healthy living. They do breakfasts, toasted sandwiches, lunch lunches, pizza, pasta, burgers, paninis, salads and sushi.
The Claremont branch is massive, so if you are looking for somewhere to go in a big group then this is the place. They also have a sushi conveyor belt which you can sit around, which is great if there are just a few of you. The day I went we decided not to sit at the conveyor belt just because I find you end up staring at the plates going around way more than sitting and having an actual conversation. I was also in the mood for a salad that day, so I chose the Food Lover’s Salad. This came with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, sunflower seeds, avocado, and picante peppers with a balsamic glaze. I wasn’t a huge fan of the peppers, but other than this it was delicious and very well presented. With this I chose the bamboo rolls, which were four pieces of salmon and prawn wrapped with cucumber and avocado. The salad and the one plate of sushi was perfect.
My husband went straight for the sushi and said it was amazing. We were both surprised — we had never been here before, considering it is right around the corner from us. They do half-price sushi every day, except Sunday from 5pm onwards. Definitely recommended.
