Entebbe isn’t exactly a foodie’s paradise, but since most visitors to Kampala have to pass through on their way to the airport, it’s important to have a place you can call on for a decent lunch or dinner. And although most of the Entebbe hotels have their own in-house eateries, sometimes it’s nice to step outside of the complex and head to a restaurant.

Faze 3 is located on Circular Road, where outside of major flight times there is usually very little traffic, making it a very short hop from both the arrivals and departures terminals. And with free wi-fi, it’s a great place to stop at alone, as well as with visiting friends or guests.

We like the open wooden deck that looks out over greenery and the airfield. There’s something safari chic about it; from the driftwood-style balcony to the wooden tables and posh rattan chairs. There’s plenty of shade for sunny days, and in the distance you can see Lake Victoria.

Indian specialties are the order of the day here, but sometimes Indian food can feel a bit heavy before or after a long flight. The salads aren’t bad – we tried the chicken, vegetables, spinach and chick pea combination –  and the steaks have a bit of a cult following. They are served with thick gravy, potato cheese mash and lightly steamed vegetables. Our dessert was strawberry ice cream, well-presented and served icy cold despite the midday heat.

Lots of people stop by for coffee here, and the cappuccinos are creatively-served, with liquid cocoa writing atop the froth. Bon appetit.
