Eastern Food Bazaar in Longmarket Street, Cape Town is a must-see place for Eastern food lovers in Cape Town. It’s an incredible experience that offers top class Eastern street food and some other surprises amongst the street culture of downtown Cape Town. There are lots of vendors to choose from and you may feel a bit lost as a newbie, but how it works is you decide what you want, queue by the tills in the middle to pay and then return back to the stalls to collect your food and show them your receipt. From Indian to Turkish, you’ll find a bunch of great Eastern classics as well as newly added pizzas and gelato. Eat in the seating area or take your food as a takeaway and enjoy it at home.
I ordered some Garlic Naan and Chicken Samosa as a starter. The Garlic Naan is very popular so be prepared to wait a while for your order, but don’t worry, it’s 100% worth it. The authentic naan is delicious, soft and tender. I would recommend getting an extra order before you regret it. The chicken samosas were actually disappointing this time as it was late in the day and they were quite dry.
I also ordered the Fallafel and chips but was given a Chicken Shwarma and chips instead. The great thing about the Shwarma is you can choose your own garnishes, making your meal 100% catered to your taste buds. The Turkish food is always delicious at Eastern Food Bazaar, just make sure they give you the right order before you leave.
I couldn’t leave without ordered the famous local Lamb Bunny Chow which is lamb curry served in half a hollowed out loaf of bread. Lots of carbs and lots of great eastern flavours! Absolutely delicious and a must-try if you’ve never experienced a local Bunny Chow before. All in all, it was a delicious meal and great value for money.
